Objectives: Discuss the appropriate path to move an idea that impacts patient care and/or the practice of medicine in Texas to a developed TMA policy position; Utilize the different avenues available to promote policy that affects physicians and patients, such as public health initiatives, statutory changes such as tort reform or regulatory changes adopted by the appropriate entity (TMA, legislative body and/or regulatory authority); Discuss the importance of organized medicine working with “one voice” to promote sound medical policy in Texas.
