The Academic Learning Center provides peer-led individual tutoring, group study session, Supplemental Instruction, writing consultations, and space for individual and group study.
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
  • Provide academic support to Newcomb Tulane College students, fostering success in and out of the classroom by providing content tutoring, motivation, and accountability to peers.

  • Maintain and manage the Academic Learning Center physical space, the Learning Studio
  • Providing support to students, tutors, and staff using the Learning Studio, including managing reservations, assisting with technology, and maintaining a learning atmosphere at all times 
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student
  • Students who are proactive, reliable, compassionate, welcoming, and open to change 
  • Students who possess a commitment to the betterment of their peers
  • Students who are comfortable working one-on-one or presenting to a group
REQUIREMENTS IF HIRED:
  • You must be willing to work an average of 8-10 hours per week.
  • You much maintain a cumulative GPA of a 2.7 or above.
  • You must adhere to a prescribed "Code of Ethics" that requires professionalism and a respect for the privacy of the students who use our services.
  • You must complete a Weekly Report which will be provided for you.
  • You will be expected to attend all staff trainings, meetings, and events throughout the academic year.  A schedule will be provided to you in advance and you will be paid for these events.
COMPENSATION: 
  • Undergraduate students will earn $9.00 per hour upon hire. Graduate students will earn $15.00 per hour upon hire.

  • Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student
  • Students who are proactive, reliable, and organized, with good customer service skills 
  • Work/Study eligible
  • Students who are comfortable being independent and taking initiative
