Peer Educator Application

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
  • Provide academic, personal, and/or career support to students from peer to peer
  • Foster success in and out of the classroom by providing support, motivation, and accountability to fellow students through peer coaching in a 1-on-1 or group setting. Peer Educators offer a variety of academic resources and personal development services such as:
           - supplemental instruction (SI)
           - tutoring
           - workshops
           - one-on-one meetings
           - self-assessments
           - study strategies
           - text anxiety
           - time management
           - major and career exploration
           - campus involvement
           - decision making skills
           - stress management
           - the overall college transition and much more

Would you like to opt in to our Private Tutor List? If so, you may be contacted by students, parents, faculty, staff, and the New Orleans community about hiring you for private tutoring. Payment, hourly rate, and meeting location arrangements are to be made privately and based on your personal preference.

  • Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student
  • Students who are proactive, reliable, compassionate, welcoming, and open to change

  • Students who are comfortable working one-on-one or presenting to a group
REQUIREMENTS IF HIRED:
  • You must be willing to work an average of 5-10 hours per week.
  • You must adhere to a prescribed "Code of Ethics" that requires professionalism and a respect for the privacy of the students who use our services.
  • You must complete a Weekly Report which will be provided for you.
  • You will be expected to attend all staff trainings, meetings, and events throughout the academic year.  A schedule will be provided to you in advance and you will be paid for these events.
COMPENSATION: 
  • Undergraduate students will earn $9.00 per hour upon hire. Graduate students will earn $15.00 per hour upon hire.
