Application Guidelines

2024/2025

Kay’s Foundation is dedicated to helping youth that are currently fighting cancer or in remission to further their education through financial support.

The Purpose of the Kays Foundation Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to qualifying graduating high school seniors intending to pursue a course of study at either of the following: a two or four-year educational institution or registered trade school. (Applications will be accepted for students taking a gap year.)

Eligibility

Reside in and/or have attended a pediatric oncology camp, in the Childrens Oncology Camping Association - Interational (COCAI) Region 2 (DE, MD, PA, VA, or NJ).
Be a candidate for graduation from a High School or accredited state vocational institution or GED - or be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or verified trade school beyond their first year.
Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 or equivalent (a lower GPA will be considered on a case-by-case basis).
Applicant must be planning to attend and prove enrollment in an undergraduate program or verified trade school.
Applicants may not be related to any active Kays Foundation board member.

Criteria

For consideration, an applicant must submit the attached application and the following supporting documents:

An essay describing how you have overcome a challenge(s) in your fight against cancer and how this journey has impacted you.
Official transcript from Secondary school
List of volunteer and extracurricular activities
Three (3) letters of recommendation from non-family member (i.e. teacher, coach, boss, community leader)
Proof of enrollment at a qualifying institution where the scholarship will be leveraged. The scholarship will be paid directly to the applicant.

Procedure for 2024/2025 Applications

A completed application and all supporting documents must be submitted to the below address by May 31, 2024.
Final applicant decision will be made by June 15, 2024.
Scholarship funding will be made within 15-30 days after final applicant decision on June 15th.
An applicant may be asked to be interviewed by the Kays Foundation Board of Directors
Scholarship in the amount $2,500 will be awarded to one (1) individual annually and funds will be awarded up to 4 years as long as the recipient provides Proof of Enrollment and maintains a GPA of 2.5 or above (two year program applicants will receive the scholarship for 2 years).
Funds will be provided directly to the scholarship recipient in the form of a check Annually
If recipient does not attend 2 or 4 year program within 24 months of receiving scholarship funding Kays Foundation will require a full return of the allocated amount.
