YOUR INPUT INTO FUTURE RECRUITMENT POLICY BASED ON BETTER KNOWLEDGE OF TRANSNATIONAL PROGRAMS

Hypothetical Scenario

Your organisation advertises a position requiring strong language skills and a Masters degree in engineering. If you have two strong applicants with the same degree offered by the same university, but you become aware that one applicant has studied at the University's offshore campus, managed by a local provider and has not visited the country where the university's main campus is located, would you:

A1. Provide additional testing to determine language and other proficiencies to ensure equal level of competencies amongst both candidates? *
A2. Assume that both candidates should have the same academic and language competencies because the University has issued a qualification to both candidates and it should not matter what mode of study the candidates have undertaken? *
A3. Provide the candidate who has studied at the University's home campus a distinct advantage in the hiring process? *

A4. Had the position been at a junior level or a non-science based discipline area (e.g. say, administration), would it still be relevant to determine language and academic proficiencies in just the same way as positions in science, engineering and say, medicine? *
A5. If an institution/university,  partners with a local provider to offer transnational programs, would you assume that the quality of the program would not be as high as the institution/university that uses its own infrastructure (e.g. lecturers and teaching staff) to deliver programs offshore? *
A6. If an institution/university,  partners with a local provider to offer transnational programs, would you assume that the institution/university would have completed a qualitative process that would ensure the integrity of the offshore program? *
