Session 1: Useless Box
September 12, 2019 – October 24, 2019 (Thursdays)
A “Useless Box” is a small box with an on/off switch and a hinged lid. Turn on the switch and a lever pops out, turns off the switch, then retreats. That is the machine’s sole purpose: You turn it on, and it turns itself off. Useless? Maybe. Fun? Definitely! We’ll use Arduinos for the brains, NeoPixels for lights, Laser Cutters to design the boxes, and Tinkercad to program.
Students will design, program, and build from 9:00-Noon. Then we will have a full hour to eat and socialize! A healthy lunch will be prepared by our full time students and is complimentary for students enrolled in this class.
