Program Mentor

SUPPORTS

Group Fitness Director and/or General Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE

 

A Program Mentor is an instructor who is specialized in a program format and supports the development of an instructor during a MOSSA online initial training

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of rookie instructor during online initial training to ensure comprehension and application of content
  • Provide feedback on all homework assigned during online training (see appendix for assigned homework based on program)
  • Answers questions as they relate to program delivery
  • Communicate with GFD on any issues of concern in regards to development of instructor

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Results-oriented professional with a positive outlook and a commitment to quality
  • Effective communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills with the ability to critically assess their own and other’s performance
  • Reliable, tolerant, patient, and determined
  • Desire to develop a high-performing instructor

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be current with program releases
  • Teaches at least 1 class per week of designated program
  • Has the flexibility to work one-on-one with instructor to develop and give feedback

Now that you understand Group Active Entertaining, Connecting, and Coaching at a more advanced level, it's time to apply that knowledge:

  • Review tracks two (Cardio Basics) and six (Back & Legs) again, applying the information just covered.
  • Video yourself teaching these tracks to program mentor or GFD applying the advanced coaching strategies covered.
  • Review video.
  • Review the workout introduction that was scripted during Connecting with program mentor or GFD.

  • Learn these two tracks.

There is no homework assignment in Group Core Online Training. The role of the Program Mentor for this program is to answer any questions regarding the training release and to support the instructor in completing and passing video assessment.

  • Video yourself teaching tracks seven and eight to your program mentor or GFD applying coaching strategies previously covered.
  • Review video.

Homework 2

Now that you understand Group Fight Connecting and additional Executing, it's time to apply that knowledge:

  • Review tracks seven (Mix Martial Arts 2) and eight (Muay Thai 2) again, applying the information just covered.
  • Video yourself teaching these tracks to program mentor or GFD applying the coaching strategies covered.
  • Review video.

Homework 1

Now that you understand the basics of Group Groove Branding, Executing, and Entertaining, it's time to apply that knowledge:

  • Watch tracks two (FirstDANCE) and four (LowDANCE 1) following along in the program notes to familiarize yourself with Group Groove program notes.
  • Learn these two tracks.
  • Video yourself executing tracks two and four in front of your program mentor or GFD applying the Body Prints and Entertaining information previously covered.  As we have not yet covered Coaching, you do not need to say anything.  You are "practice shadowing" with the focus on committing physically to the style of the song and interpreting the music through face, voice, and body.
  • Review video.

Homework 2

Now that you understand Executing on a more advanced level and have learned about Coaching and Advanced Coaching, it's time to apply that knowledge:

  • Review tracks two (FirstDANCE) and four (LowDANCE 1) considering what you have learned about Advanced Executing, Coaching, and Advanced Coaching.
  • Video yourself teaching tracks two and four to your program mentor or GFD applying the additional information you have learned.
  • Review video.

Now that you understand the basics of Group Ride Branding, Executing, Coaching, and Entertaining, it's time to apply that knowledge:

  • Watch tracks two (Terrain) and three (Roll) following along in the program notes to familiarize yourself with Group Ride program notes.
  • Learn these two tracks.
  • Video yourself teaching tracks two and three to your Program Mentor or GFD applying coaching strategies previously covered.
  • Review video.
