Join the ORPC for the return of in-person training! Our 7th Annual New RPC Boot Camp marks the first in-person training in over two years. We are so excited to invite you to a three-day interactive training designed to develop and hone respondent parent representation skills. Over the course of three days, participants will walk through the life of a dependency and neglect case from start to finish. The training will include introduction to the basics of child welfare law, as well as discussion of more nuanced and complex issues RPCs are likely to encounter in practice. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the skills that they learn throughout the course of the training.
Although this training has "New RPC" in the title, all are welcome! Here's who should attend this training:
- New ORPC attorneys—if you received your ORPC attorney contract within the last 1-2 years and have not already been to Boot Camp, we highly, highly recommend you come this year! We expect all new contractors to attend boot camp at least once. So if you were new last year and couldn’t make it, now would be a great time to join us! Even if you’ve already been to Boot Camp but want to brush up your skills, we’d love to have you.
- Existing ORPC attorneys—whether you want to brush up on the basics, learn new skills and strategies, get extra practice, or just connect with other ORPC attorneys, Boot Camp will give you that opportunity!
- New and Existing ORPC Social Workers, Family Advocates, and Parent Advocates—knowing the court process and laws that apply to parent representation will help you understand the parent’s goals and how to best help achieve them!
