Thomas More Gemini Program
The Gemini program at Thomas More College is open senior high school students who:
- Have submitted a High School Transcript showing the student has completed
2 units of English
2 units of Science
2 units of Mathematics
2 units in Social Studies
- Have an overall GPA of 3.5 or better in the above units
- Have met ACT score requirements
Students not meeting the above requirements may be admitted to the program with the joint approval of the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Thomas More College (or designee), the student's guidance counselor, or the director of the academies. Once enrolled in the Gemini program, to register for subsequent semesters a student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 in Thomas More courses. This requirement is set up to assist students in meeting the goal of successfully earning college credit at the high school level.
Scholars enrolling in a dual credit pathway must also take a senior academic seminar class.

Internship Program
The internship is a non-paid experience that could lead to course credit for the scholar if all criteria are met. All academic internships will be designed on an individual basis to meet the needs of each scholar their senior year. The internship requires a professional partner or business that agrees to provide an internship opportunity to the scholar.
SCHOLARS MUST BE INVITED TO SIGN UP FOR AN ACADEMIC INTERNSHIP. Scholars interested in an academic internship must speak to the college and career coordinator, Teresa Nicosia, to determine if they are eligible at teresa.nicosia3@kenton.kyschools.us or call the Academy office at 859-341-2266.

Biomedical Sciences Option (Biomedical Sciences Senior Scholars ONLY)
The Biomedical Sciences Academy is offering two, semester long courses that will be taught before school begins at the edgewood campus. Scholars wishing to take these courses can sign up for one or both semesters.
Medical Interventions (First Semester) at Edgewood Campus 7:00 – 7:50am
Students investigate a variety of interventions involved in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease as they follow the life of a fictitious family. The course is a “How-To” manual for maintaining overall health and homeostasis in the body. Students explore how to prevent and fight infection; screen and evaluate the code in human DNA; prevent, diagnose and treat cancer; and prevail when the organs of the body begin to fail. Through these scenarios, students are exposed to a range of interventions related to immunology, surgery, genetics, pharmacology, medical devices, and diagnostics. This course is designed for 12th grade students. PREREQUISITE: Human Body Systems or approval of instructor
Biomedical Innovation (Second Semester) at Edgewood Campus 7:00 – 7:50am
Students design innovative solutions for the health challenges of the 21st century. They work through progressively challenging open-ended problems, addressing topics such as clinical medicine, physiology, biomedical engineering, and public health. They have the opportunity to work on an independent project with a mentor or advisor from a university, hospital, research institution, or the biomedical industry. Throughout the course, students are expected to present their work to an audience of STEM professionals. This course is designed for 12th grade students. PREREQUISITE: Medical Interventions or approval of instructor

Military Preparatory Option (Current Military Preparatory Scholars ONLY)
The Military Preparatory Academy is offering a modified senior pathway for current Military Preparatory scholars that wish to continue their studies in this Academy. This option is a miltary course only and will not include a math and an English option.

Robotics/Structural Engineering Option (Current Engineering and HPPT Scholars ONLY)
The Engineering Academy is offering one, year long course that will be taught before school begins at Simon Kenton High School.
Engineering Design and Development (Year Long) Simon Kenton High School 7:00am-7:50am
The knowledge and skills students acquire throughout the PLTW Engineering sequence come together in EDD as they identify an issue and then research, design, and test a solution, ultimately presenting their solution to a panel of engineers. Students apply the professional skills they have developed to document a design process to standards, and completing EDD ready to take on any post-secondary program or career.
