VISUAL ART IN JAC application

Jericho Arts Centre is a 150-seat (approx) performance venue located off NW Marine Drive near Jericho Beach. United Players is the resident theatre company, which produces a highly acclaimed 5-play season. In addition to this, JAC hosts many guest companies, representing some of the finest independent theatre companies in Vancouver. In addition to visual artists, we also display work by artisans through the Craft Council of British Columbia.  

The lobby of the Centre is not a "gallery", (nor are we a member of CARFAC) but it is a venue for your work to be seen by hundreds of people, including media representatives. It is estimated that 1500 – 2000 patrons and members will spend up to 60 minutes in the lobby during the run of each major show in JAC. Your work, if available, will also get prominent exposure on the JAC website during the run of the show, as well as being included in emails to our extensive database. JAC asks only 10% commission on sales.

Proposals will be juried by a panel which includes the JAC Visual Art Curator, a JAC representative and at least two prominent visual artists.

FORM

This form is for making an application to exhibit visual art in the Jericho Arts Centre during the upcoming season (i.e. Sept 1, 2011 to Aug 31, 2012).  The deadline for submission is July 15th 30th, 2011.

Please be aware of the following before applying:

• we are looking for
   > 2-dimensional work that can be hung in front of the lobby drapes
   > 3-dimensional work that can be displayed in 4 clear plastic cases (one each 22", 20", 18" &16"cube)
• we are not a CARFAC gallery
• artists are expected to prepare all their work for hanging prior to the installation date
• artists are expected to install and take down their own work.
  Move-in and move-out times are set in advance at the discretion of the JAC TD, and artists are expected to do their best to accommodate the TD's requirements.
